I lost again at the tournament this week. At least I didn't go out too early, I went out around 23rd place. There were a couple of stupid moves I made and I really need to get a better handle on my no-limit play. My main problem seems to be when I raise, then get re-raised all-in. I keep folding when I should call or calling when I should fold. I did make the right decision in one hand, winning a huge pot. But I'm sure I was making a ton of mistakes in the other hands. I've got to improve my hand reading skills before the WSOP this year.
I lost a little at $3/$6 while waiting for the tournament, but won a little online at that level. It's been a pretty crappy couple of weeks as far as poker goes. Things are going great in my personal life (I got a new job!) so maybe I'm a little distracted. If I learned one good lesson, it's that I shouldn't take too much out of my bankroll while I'm winning. I need the cash to buffer these losses.
Like a good capitalist, I donated some money to the

. Well, kinda. I gave them $25 to sign up, then Party Poker gave me an extra $25 in my online account. So really, it was Party Poker that paid for it. Which makes sense, since I wouldn't be surprised if that company was behind this lobby group anyway. I got a t-shirt and some silly looking pins.
But the membership totally paid for itself last week. They sent me an email, telling me about H.R. 4777. It's a bill being introduced by Rep. Bot Goodlatte, R-Va, which will attempt to lump online poker under the Wire Act (making it illegal). The website had a pre-genned letter that I filled out, which got automatically sent to Nancy Pelosi (my rep in California). Took about two minutes to voice my opposition. I'm not that politically active, so any group that will lobby on my behalf, keep me informed, and make it trivial to get involved, is fantastic in my book. Hopefully, that stupid bill will get shot down.
