Tracking my progress in Texas Hold'em

Ouch! I took another beating at $3/$6 last night. I kept trying to push with what I thought were small edges, but was getting handily beaten. I'd get into a re-raising war with QQ only to find myself up against KK. Pushed AJ against AQ. Then AQ against AK. Pushed hard with 66 when I made a set on the flop, only to lose to 88 when they made a set on the turn. Lost two pair to flushes on the river a few times. I just took one beatdown after another the entire session. It was frustrating to lose a bunch of money to players that my tracking software had identified as ATM machines, and then to watch those players lose my money to the other sharks at the table.

One more loss like this and I'll have to drop down to $2/$4. It's getting to be pretty demoralizing. I think I'm going to have to take a break from limit for a while, just to preserve my bankroll. I'll stick to cheap tournaments until I get another big win. I'm not going to be able to go to Casino San Pablo for a while either, since I can't really afford to lose there without having to drop down in stakes.

I can only really lose about another $150 before I have to drop down to $2/$4. But that's nearly 30 cheap tournaments. The prizes for the tournaments are huge, so if I stick to the cheap ones until I win another, it should boost my bankroll up a bit so I can return to playing cash games. It'll be good practice for the WSOP anyway.

Easy come, easy go, I suppose. I can't even imagine the stress the pros must go through when they experience downswings like this. Thank the gods for day jobs.
